Every society gets the kind of criminal it deserves!
-Robert F. Kennedy, 1064
Assassinated June 6, 1968
If you've seen the 30 minute film introduction to "The Legend of Charles Manson" available by Real Player on our Home Page, you probably recall that famous prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi saying Manson, like Hitler, has some other aspect to his personality, some frightening and tangible power and quality about him that no one as yet has been able to discover."
What Mr. Bugliosi may not have known when he made that statement 30
years ago, was just how close he had come to understanding one of life's greatest mysteries.
It is generally agreed among historians and scholars that the 20th Century produced only three men who
possessed a significant amount of unordinary power. While John F. Kennedy represented
the power of good, Hitler and Manson, according to popular belief, held/hold the power of Satan himself. And let's be honest, that's probably why you have come to this website or other sites dealing with Manson. There have been many other mass murderers that have killed many more innocent souls, including Lieutenant Cally
who ordered over 500 old men, women and children and babies to be
massacred on behalf of the United States Government. There are no
websites dealing with him and his name is almost never mentioned in
the news.
We propose that the key word here is POWER. The power to control ones own mind and perhaps others. Paul Watkins, who turned states evidence to help convict Manson, declared Charlie to be "one powerful Dude." Brooks
Poston, a family member who also testified, said "the idea of what Charlie was scared the shit out of me."
So does Manson really hold some kind of "frightening and tangible
power." Possibly, the answer may lie in the Court's Decision to deny
Manson his Constitutional Right to defend himself.
Had Manson represented himself, cross examined witnesses and presented
arguments to the court and jury, the question of his power, which was just as controversial 30 years ago as it is today, would have been tested and proven to be
non-existent and you would find very little mention of him on the internet today.
But because "The People" realized the potential for a much greater disaster, the possibility that Manson might actually wield a satanic cloud over a vulnerable and moderately educate
jury, the supreme exception to sacred rights granted under our frayed constitution was deemed
warranted.
Actually, as happens in law as well as in life "The People" created it's own catch 22. By making all the pre-publicity concerning Manson's power, which was necessary to convince anyone that it was Manson who masterminded and controlled the events of August 9, 1969, Satan himself was given flesh and made whole.
As the public was gobbling up this incredible tale of the Devil's
resurrection in sunny California, apparently some lawyers and especially the gun toting judge were greatly affected, to the extent that the court would exercise the very rarely used "Devils are not allowed to practice
the law" exclusion.
Hence, even today we remain saddled with at premier dilemma; could Manson have won over the Jury or would he have failed, thus proving he had no power over anyone? More likely, Manson would have used his power to show that he had no power over anyone , including "The Family," to commit murder.
The everlasting story here is, that if Manson goes to his grave without ever discovering the real truth, as to his power, only popular belief can become
the accepted truth. The pertinent facts as they stand today are: Manson
had/has the power to control the minds of others and his power was/is so great that he could not/cannot be allowed to represent himself in a United States Court of Law.
Now, with those two facts judicially noticed and accepted by everyone, perhaps you can begin to understand Manson's universal attraction.
On a planet where all the world's leaders are self indulged in immature and destructive behavior, no wonder a figure like Manson stands out. For a moment lets be objectively honest and carefully at the four best men the greatest nation on earth has to offer.
One is more concerned about the welfare of spotted owls than the corruption and murder in law enforcement. One thinks Basketball players can save the world. One still thinks Commie Gooks are coming to get us and one doesn't appear to think at all. If you compare Manson, a man with actual court proven supernatural powers, to four dorks in suits Regis Philbin wouldn't be caught dead in, what do you expect young open minds to think?
Further, in a day and age where school children write term papers about serial killers instead of presidents, your presence at a website like this is becoming more normal than you think. Our hits per time zone show that Manson has a universal attraction outdone only by movie stars and rock stars.
It now appears that with Manson,
like Hitler, anything bad or negative said about him merely adds to his appeal. We find it totally amazing that the names of two American
presidents, overcome by the sixties, go almost unnoticed but for their involvement in the
Vietnam war and even the once so famous Princess Diana is but a blip on the historical
calendar, where the name of Charles Manson continually and after 30 years still evokes mass public attention.
We guess, that the test of Manson's
power may now rest solely in the ability of his infamy to survive beyond the ritual grave and should that occur,
America will have won another of her very own true legends for time everlasting.
As an after thought, what if Manson was granted his Constitutional Right to represent himself in a new trial, wherein his mystical power was not enough to save him from conviction and this time the GAS CHAMBER? Wow! You'd think the victim's relatives and everyone but "The Family" would be mobbing the steps of the Supreme Court demanding a new trial.
And if Manson actually Zapped! the witnesses and the jury to make them declare his innocence, well, at least then we would finally know for sure that the DEVIL really does exist!
